“He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one….The disciples said, ‘See, Lord, here are two swords.’ ‘That’s enough!’ he replied.” -Luke 36-38 NIV
Frequently asked QUESTIONS
Are you certified to teach Conceal Carry classes in Minnesota?
We are certified through the United States Conceal Carry Association (USCCA) to teach Conceal Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals (CCHDF) using the USCCA curriculum.
The curriculum covered in the MN Permit to Carry course taught by Cross Caliber Training is recognized by the state of Minnesota as a valid prerequisite for obtaining the MN carry permit under MSS 624.714 Subdivision 2a.
Are you certified to teach Emergency Medical classes?
We are certified through both the United States Conceal Carry Association (USCCA) and American Heart Association (AHA) to teach a variety of medical courses. Currently we are offering Control the Bleed, AHA HeartSaver, and AHA BLS classes.
Do I need any previous firearm experience to take the Permit to Carry class?
No previous firearms experience is required! If you don’t have a firearm to bring to class, one will be provided for the live-fire qualification.
If you are brand new to firearms, know that we teach by using realistic simulation firearms in-class. This provides an easy and safe method for practicing the shooting fundamentals before even touching a live firearm.
What good is a MN Permit to carry a firearm?
With a MN Permit, you can legally carry a firearm in public (with certain restrictions). It also allows you to purchase handguns and modern sporting rifles at Federal Firearms Licensed dealers (FFLs) in Minnesota.
Where do I go once I have my Certificate of Completion?
You can apply for your MN Permit to Carry at your local sheriff’s office in your county. Minnesota is a “Shall Issue” state and the sheriff’s office must produce a valid reason to deny your permit.
Certificates comply with MSS 624.714 Subdivision 2a requirements.
Where do I go to sign up for a class?
Check each class for where and how to register. For firearm related courses, we use USCCA. Stripe is used for credit card payment.
If you are having difficulty signing up, please call or send an email.
What if I have to cancel? Will I get a refund?
For a full refund, you will need to call or send an email at least 48 hours before class. Otherwise, you may ask to be rescheduled for a different class (up to 3 times).
What if I am unable to pass the Permit to Carry class?
In the event that you are unable to pass the live-fire qualification, or are struggling with the legal & safety concepts presented in class, you will be allowed to retake the class without additional charge. After a 2nd failed attempt, work with your instructor to schedule a 1-on-1 remediation.
However, any blatant safety violations, intentional disruptions, or threatening behavior, you will be immediately removed from the classroom and it is per the instructors’ discretion whether or not to allow you back.
Where are you located?
Cross Caliber Training is located in the South-East metro and uses South Saint Paul Sportsman’s Club as the primary teaching/range location.
